HAVANA, Cuba, May 8 (ACN) The Regional Cuban-Russian Center for Training Rescue and Firefighting Specialists (CRESB) has continued its international courses in this capital since its founding on July 11, 2014.
Over its 11 years of operation, representatives from 30 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean have participated in its programs, according to the Cuban Fire Department (CBC).
The first course took place in 2016, commemorating the 320th anniversary of the CBC, the 85th anniversary of the International Civil Defense Organization, and the second anniversary of the CRESB’s establishment, with experts from eight nations in attendance.
One of its key objectives is to strengthen bilateral collaboration in disaster response, focusing on prevention and recovery efforts.
The training programs include technological updates on the most modern search and rescue methods, skill development for locating and extracting disaster victims, and knowledge exchange with regional rescue specialists.
The CRESB boasts experienced instructors from Russia and Cuba and has trained firefighters from Venezuela, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Haiti, Jamaica, Dominica, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Colombia, Antigua and Barbuda, Bolivia, and Honduras, while also collaborating with Ecuador and Dominica.
