COLORADO SPRINGS — Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) believes the husband of a 2019 missing woman strangled her and buried her body.
38-year-old Dane Oliver Kallungi, the husband of Jepsy Kallungi, was arrested earlier this week and charged with first-degree murder. Police believe a domestic violence disturbance took place before Dane Kallungi killed his wife of two years.
On April 4, 2019, CSPD initiated a missing person case report for 26-year-old Jepsy Kallungi, police said the last time anyone had contact with Jepsy was on March 20th, 2019.
“There was talk about a separation but they were married at the time this incident had occurred,” said Lt. Joe Frabbile with the Colorado Springs Police Department during a press conference on Friday.
“Well, of course, the family and friends of Jepsy have always been concerned since March 2019, we’ve been in contact with family members in Hong Kong and Philippines they’ve been advised of the arrest and are interested in recovering Jepsy,” Lt. Frabbile said.
According to CSPD, detectives conducted numerous interviews and executed nearly three dozen search warrants since this investigation started.
Dane Kallungi was arrested on Wednesday, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Police say he moved to San Diego, California shortly after Jepsy went missing. The Fourth Judicial District Attorney’s Office is working on extraditing him back to Colorado. The investigation is still active and investigators are still trying to locate Jepsy’s body.
