Firefighters spread fire safety lessons in northern Brainerd lakes area

Area firefighters marked Fire Prevention Week with educational activities.

On Tuesday, Oct. 5, 12 Pequot Lakes firefighters brought five trucks to Eagle View Elementary School and spoke to all kindergarten through second grade classes.

Meeting outside, the students learned about fire safety and got to see the trucks and Sparky the Fire Dog.

The Pequot Lakes Fire Department held its annual open house Wednesday, Oct. 6, at the fire hall for the community.

Nisswa firefighters sounded sirens Wednesday morning, Oct. 6, as they drove trucks to Nisswa Elementary School. Firefighters used a hose to spray water on the building and then talked to students in the gym about fire safety while dressed in full fire gear.

Students also practiced a fire drill.
