Kansas City police have surrounded a home Wednesday near 25th Street and Tracy Avenue, where a man armed with a weapon is believed to be inside.
Police said that at about 10 a.m., officers received a report of a person armed with a gun in the area. Construction workers told officers that a man was armed with a gun outside and went inside a home just before police arrived at the scene.
Authorities said many attempts were made to deescalate the situation and talk the man into coming out. Just after 12 p.m., police said they called in additional tactical resources and negotiators to the scene.
Authorities said negotiators are actively talking with the man in an effort to get him to surrender.
