Part of The Mall of NH will be temporarily closed Sunday after a massage chair fire, firefighters say
The Mall of New Hampshire said food establishments at the mall will be temporarily closed after a massage chair caught fire early Sunday morning.
The Manchester Fire Department said the fire was reported at about 1:24 a.m.
When crews arrived on scene they found the mall's sprinkler system had extinguished most of the fire and contained it to the area of the massage chair.
The fire was deemed fully under control at about 1:49 a.m.
Officials say security guards were in the mall at the time of the fire, but no one was injured.
The fire department said there was water damage in the proximity of the fire, which was said to be in a hallway right outside Best Buy and the food court, as well as heavy smoke damage throughout the mall.
The Manchester Fire Department told News 9 the mall's food establishments will be closed until they "pass inspection and approval from the Manchester Health Department."
The Mall of New Hampshire told News 9 their original plans were to only open the mall's anchor stores at 11 a.m., but upon further review it was determined that all of the stores will be able to open on time.
They added food establishments will remain closed pending the aforementioned inspections.
