I WOKE up today (Wednesday) to news of yet another horrific mass slaughter in the US, just 10 days after the last one. A gunman entered an elementary school for second, third and fourth grade students in Uvalde, Texas and shot at least 27 children and seven adults — four of those police officers — before being killed himself. Fourteen children and one teacher were killed outright; as of the latest news, four more students and two more adults had died of their injuries, bringing the death toll to 21.
