Shahbad Dairy murder: Accused sent in judicial custody, Delhi Police questioning friends
Sahil Khan was arrested from Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr on May 29, a day after he allegedly stabbed a 16-year-old girl more than 20 times and assaulted her with a concrete slab at Shahbad Dairy in Northwest Delhi.

A Delhi court Saturday sent Sahil Khan, 20, the accused in the Shahbad Dairy murder in judicial custody while the Delhi Police are probing the matter.
Khan was arrested from Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr on May 29, a day after he allegedly stabbed a 16-year-old girl more than 20 times and assaulted her with a concrete slab at Shahbad Dairy in Northwest Delhi. The incident was captured on CCTV and the minor died on the spot as bystanders and locals kept watching but did not intervene.
Khan was earlier sent to three days in police custody and later produced before a judge at her residence in Delhi. The police said he was produced at the judge’s residence over security reasons.
Khan has now been sent in judicial custody as the police have recovered the six-inch-long murder weapon and his phone from near Rithala metro station. Police sources said they also want to book him under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, after the minor’s family said they are Dalits and he had tortured the girl.
As per senior police officers, on May 28, Khan followed the minor and waited for her in the area. He attacked her with a knife and later assaulted her with a concrete slab on a busy street in Shahbad Dairy. The police said he managed to flee as nobody intervened or made a PCR call. The incident occurred around 8.45 pm and the police were called at 9.20-9.30 pm.
The police said Khan escaped to Bulandshahr. “He first went to a nearby park where he sat for some time. He then walked towards Rithala metro station where he dumped the murder weapon and his phone. After this, he took an e-rickshaw and went to the Samaypur Badli area where he slept at a metro station. The next morning, he took a bus to Anand Vihar and then boarded a bus for Bulandshahr,” said the police.
The police later recovered the phone and arrested Sahil. He was taken for medical examination and brought to Delhi. The police on Friday recovered the murder weapon and are in the process of filing a chargesheet.
The police are also questioning three of Khan’s friends and four-five friends of the minor to ascertain more details about the couple and the relationship. DCP (Outer) Ravi Kumar Singh had earlier said the couple had a fallout and the girl wanted to end the relationship, which angered Khan and he planned to kill her last week. The weapon used in the murder was bought from Haridwar two or three weeks ago, he added.
