VANCOUVER, Wash. (KATU) — A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle Monday night around 7:15 p.m. in the area of SE 117th Ave and SE Mill Plain Blvd, according to the Vancouver Police Department.
Authorities said the driver was traveling eastbound on SE Mill Plain Blvd in the lane closest to the divider when he hit a pedestrian crossing mid-block, approximately 10 feet from the nearest designated crosswalk and against the walk symbol.
The driver stopped at the scene and showed no signs of impairment, police said. The pedestrian was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The Vancouver Police Department Traffic Unit is continuing the investigation.
This incident marks the third serious injury or fatality collision involving a pedestrian in Vancouver in 2025, officials said.
