NEW DETAILS: DPS Highway Patrol releases new details following school bus crash in Marana

MARANA, Ariz. (KVOA) - After a press briefing by DPS Highway Patrol, we have learned that there were approximately 40 people on the school bus that crashed on I-10. Four people were seriously injured in the crash one adult and three students all were transported to a local hospital. 

After evaluation of the scene and school bus it was decided to transport everyone to various hospitals including Banner UMC and Tucson Medical Center. Banner has confirmed 21 pediatric patients and four adults while TMC has confirmed 15 people.

DPS says the collision also involved an SUV. The driver of the SUV was taken into custody however DPS has not released why. 

Kingman Unified School District has released a statement following a school bus crash Tuesday afternoon near I-10 and Tangerine in Marana.

A bus carrying KUSD Future Business Leaders of America students and three chaperones was involved in the accident. 

There are no reported fatalities, but several students and a staff member have been transported for medical evaluation.

The crash has closed I-10 both directions. It occurred near Tangerine Road and milepost 240 in Marana at approximately 1:39 p.m. The Arizona Department of Public Safety has confirmed the involvement of a school bus in the crash.

Arizona State Troopers are currently responding to the scene. Injuries have been reported, but details about the extent and number of injuries are not yet available.
