Annual Spring clean-up to start May 2

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) - Carbondale, Illinois residents will be able to dispose of general trash on Fridays in May.

To participate, homeowners are renters can place the household items and general rubbish in front of their homes no earlier than five days before collection day and no later than 7 a.m. on collection day.

The program is available for single-family homes or apartment buildings with four or fewer units.

Household items will be collected based on regular trash collection routes.

• Friday, May 2 - Monday regular collection routes
• Friday, May 9 - Tuesday regular collection routes
• Friday, May 16 - Wednesday regular collection routes
• Friday, May 23 - Thursday regular collection routes

Several items will not be collected as part of the program.

Those items include:

• Electronics
• Tires
• Appliances
• Yard Waste
• Hazardous Materials
• Construction Debris

Public Works officials also request that any rubbish placed outside for pick up not block streets, sidewalks, ditches or drainage ways.
