Bismarck first responder groups join North Dakota National Guard Civil Support Team for hazmat training
BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - On Tuesday, the North Dakota National Guard’s Civil Support Team conducted hazardous material (Hazmat) training with the Bismarck Fire Department, Metro Area Ambulance and Bismarck Emergency Management.
The training exercises are designed to help first responders maintain the skills of identifying and containing hazardous materials and hone the partnerships between first responder groups.
“If there is a major incident that were to happen in a local city, if you will, that we have this collaboration. We understand the tactics and techniques that may happen and we can better serve the citizens in that area,” said Shawn Markovic, commander of the North Dakota National Guard’s 81st Civil Support Team.
The Hazmat training will continue through Thursday evening in Cottonwood Park.
