Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The voting is over, and there’s a winner.

The Illinois Manufacturers’ Association “Makers Madness” contest is over, and this year’s Coolest Thing Made in Illinois is a refill pump for firefighting helicopters.

So what’s so cool about this pump?

“We built it from scratch ourselves,” said Tim Tremain, second-generation owner of MTH Pumps of Plane. “We designed it fromthm the ground up and produced it ourselves right here in Illinois. Just the fact that these pumps are flying around the world fighting fires is really an amazing thing to think about.”
