How Jillian Lauren went from Prince of Brunei’s harem to rock star wife – before being shot by cops in her own garden

THE wife of Weezer star Scott Shriner, who was shot by cops in her own garden, was once part of the Prince of Brunei's 25-strong harem of women.
Jillian Lauren, 51, was shot by cops after she allegedly opened fire at a hit and run suspect breaking into her LA home.
But Tuesday's dramatic turn of events is far from the most interesting thing to ever happen to her.
Lauren was invited to join the harem of Brunei's notorious playboy Prince Jefri Bolkiah in the 1990s.
The then 18-year-old jumped at the opportunity to meet the prince and flew from New York to Borneo.
The details of Lauren's time in Borneo are shared in her first memoir titled Some Girls: My Life in a Harem.
In the book she regales being showered with jewellery, designer clothes and bags stuffed with cash by the prince.
Lauren estimates that she earned around $300,000 while staying with the playboy prince.
But this was nothing out of the ordinary as female guests would often receive around $20,000 a week along with expensive gifts.
Lauren lived at the luxurious Istana Nurul Iman Palace - complete with football field-sized Italian marble floors, plush gold-spun carpets and gilded everything.
Lauren wrote: "It was immense, it looked like a resort in Fort Lauderdale if it had been imagined by Aladdin,' she said about the palace.
"There were gold domes, swimming pools, and tennis courts and I saw all of this and my head raced with plans. I thought, is it that far out of the realm of possibility that I maybe could make a prince fall in love with me."
The Sultan of Brunei's property is considered to be the largest presidential palace in the world and cost a whopping $1.4billion.
Lauren became the prince's second girlfriend and travelled abroad as part of his entourage and she soon began to develop feelings for the prince.
But the pair didn't got their fairy tale ending and the teen returned to New York heartbroken after 18 months.
She wrote: "I fell victim to Stockholm Syndrome. I knew I was a hooker, but somehow I felt like Cinderella."
But not all was lost in love for Lauren and she married the Weezer rock star Scott Shriner in 2005.
Weezer first formed in 1992 and features Scott, lead singer and guitarist Rivers Cuomo, drummer Patrick Wilson and rhythm guitarist Brian Bell.
The loved-up couple share two adopted children.
WEEZER are an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1992.
Scott Shriner is the band's longest serving bass player - performing alongside frontman Rivers Cuomo, drummer Patrick Wilson, and lead guitarist Brian Bell.
The band were at the peak of their success in the late 90s and early 00s - known for the catchy melodies and quirky lyrics.
Their debut self-titled album, commonly referred to as the Blue Album, was released in 1994 and was a hit with tracks such as "Buddy Holly" and "Say It Ain't So".
Weezer are known for releasing several self-titled albums which are merely known by their cover art colours, such as the Green Album (2001), the Red Album (2008), and the White Album (2016).
The rock star wife's life took yet another dramatic turn on Tuesday when she was arrested for attempted murder after she allegedly pointed a handgun at cops.
The chaotic chain of events unfolded after a crash on the 134 freeway in Los Angeles.
Three people fled from the scene into the neighbourhood of Eagle Rock and the cops immediately launched a manhunt for the trio.
As officers searched for them, they found Lauren stood outside her home holding a handgun.
The cops said they yelled at her to drop the gun “numerous times” - but she repeatedly refused.
The police said: "Shriner then pointed the handgun at the officers, and an Officer-Involved Shooting occurred."
One officer then reportedly shot Lauren in the shoulder.
After being hit, Lauren is said to have gone back inside her home before coming out with her hands up 30 minutes later.
She was joined by the family's female babysitter - with them both being taken into custody.
Lauren was charged with attempted murder and released on a $1million bail bond, according to The New York Times.
Shocking footage shows Lauren laid out on the floor with her arms sprawled out as an officer places her in handcuffs.
A barefooted Lauren is then led away into a police car.
Lauren was later taken to a local hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics to be treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
Police searched the home and recovered a 9-millimetre handgun.
Lauren has now revealed that she underwent major surgery just a few weeks previously.
She posted about her "complicated operation" following the incident.
The driver of the car that crashed in the initial incident was also detained by California Highway Patrol officers, cited and released.
Two remaining suspects who fled the multi-car smash are yet to be found.
