Man charged with murder following fatal Geham house fire

A man has been charged with murder after a body was discovered in the burnt wreckage of a house on the Darling Downs, north of Toowoomba.
Emergency services were called to the Strack Road home in Geham, north of Toowoomba, shortly before 3am on Tuesday where they found the home consumed by flames.

A Queensland Fire Department spokesperson said it took crews about an hour to contain the blaze after arriving on scene at 3.20am.
Police have confirmed a body was discovered once the fire was extinguished and it was safe to enter the home.
A 45-year-old Geham man has since been charged with murder domestic violence offence and one count of arson.
He is expected to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court tomorrow.
Police say the formal identification of the person who died is ongoing.
"More forensic examination needs to be happen to determine the identity of that person," Superintendent George Marchesini said this morning.
