TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Twin Falls Police are looking for a man who ran away after crashing an SUV on Monday evening.

At 7:56 p.m., an SUV heading eastbound on Filer Avenue West crashed into a power line pole near the Blake Street North intersection, according to Sgt. Eric Barzee with the Twin Falls Police Department.

The vehicle rolled over multiple times, struck a minivan parked along the road, and came to rest along the sidewalk, according to Barzee.

The wooden pole split into two pieces. The upper half hung in the air off a nearby tree, repeatedly arcing after emergency responders arrived.

Barzee said that neighbors helped the driver out of the upside-down vehicle. The man then jumped over a white fence and ran into Cameo Mobile Estates.

The crash knocked out power for around 2,300 customers, according to the Idaho Power website. The website estimates the outage to be completely restored around 12:15 a.m. on Tuesday.

Police have closed Filer Avenue West from Ostrander Street North to Blake Street North. Barzee said people should avoid the power lines along the nearby section of Filer Avenue West.

Police are trying to locate the man, according to Barzee. A K-9 unit is on the scene, attempting to follow his trail.

Barzee said the neighbors described the man as a white male with curly hair who weighs around 220 lbs. The man’s approximate age is unknown.

Twin Falls Police are still investigating the crash and finding the man. Barzee said anyone with information or camera footage should contact dispatch at 208-735-4357.

KMVT will continue to provide updates as developments come through.
