A 39-year-old skier died after he went off a trail and crashed at Black Mountain in Jackson, N.H., on Sunday, officials said.
The man was identified as Eric M. Page of Barlett, N.H., according to the Jackson Police Department.
Police said the crash was reported at 5:51 p.m. after a passing skier found Page. Mountain ski patrol responded to the Upper Maple Slalom trail and found Page unresponsive on the edge of the snow line on the trail’s left side, police said.
Emergency responders began life-saving measures while moving Page to the bottom of the mountain, where a Bartlett-Jackson ambulance was waiting.
Paramedics continued to provide “life-saving efforts,” police said, but Page was declared dead.
In a statement, the ski area’s general manager, Erik Mogensen, said the Black Mountain community “is deeply saddened by this tragic accident.”
