New Benue Police Commissioner Pledges To Strengthen Community Policing

April 28, (THEWILL) – The new Benue Commissioner of Police, CP Emenari Ifeanyi, has assumed duty at the State Command, with a pledge to strengthen community policing for the protection of lives and properties in the state.

The new CP hails from Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State. CP Ifeanyi is a graduate of Theatre Arts from the prestigious University of Jos, Plateau State, and later proceeded to Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, where he bagged a Master of Arts degree and PhD in Literature in English.

He enlisted in the Nigeria Police Academy in 1992 and brings over thirty years of policing experience to his new role as Commissioner of Police.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer for Benue State Command, ACP Sewuese Anene, said CP Ifeanyi, has served in various operational, investigative and administrative capacities across the country, including Zamfara, Imo, Katsina, Anambra, Cross River, Osun, Ogun, Abia and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

“As a mobile police officer, the CP served as Unit Commander, 27 Police Mobile Force (PMF) Katsina State, from 1996-1999, Unit Commander, 29 PMF Awka, Anambra state from 1999-2002 and Unit Commander, 11 PMF Calabar, Cross-River state from 2002-2003”, the statement added.

According to the statement, CP Ifeanyi has represented Nigeria in different foreign missions where he served as commanding officer, a Contingent Commander, Nigeria Police Contingent to United Nations Mission in Sudan, Ops Officer, Joint Operation Center (JOC) Khartoum, Sudan, Deputy Security Advisor, Eastern Equatorial state, and South Sudan in 2012 among others.

He last served as Commissioner of Police, Force Provost Marshal before his posting to Benue State as Commissioner of Police.

The PPRO also said CP Ifeanyi promised partnerships, enhanced security measures to protect lives and properties and use available resources to combat insecurity in the State.
