Iowa weather: Blue skies and warmth early this week

Lots of sunshine and warm weather is on the way this week with only minor rain chances passing through mid-week.

HOPE THE WEATHER IS GOOD FOR THAT CELEBRATION. BUT YOU KNOW WHAT? IF YOU’RE CELEBRATING ANYTHING THIS WEEK, ZANE, IT’S GOING TO BE A GOOD ONE. IT’S BEEN FANTASTIC OUTSIDE. WE GOT WE STARTED OFF THE WEEKEND A LITTLE BIT COOL YESTERDAY THINGS REALLY WENT INTO A PERFECT TERRITORY THOUGH. OUTSIDE TODAY AND THERE’S MORE OF THAT TO COME. THE WEEK AHEAD KIND OF CAN BE SUMMARIZED TWO MAIN WAYS. MOSTLY DRY, MAINLY DRY AND WARMER. AS WE GO THROUGH THE COMING WEEK. THERE IS A SLIM CHANCE OF RAIN TOWARDS ABOUT MIDWEEK. THAT’S ABOUT IT IN THAT DEPARTMENT THOUGH. AND THEN OUR TEMPERATURES GOING TO BE A LOT OF 70S. LIKE WE MENTIONED EARLIER. EVENTUALLY WE’LL HEAD TOWARDS SOME 80 DEGREE TEMPERATURES. OBVIOUSLY WE DIDN’T HAVE THAT TODAY. IT WAS MOSTLY 70S A FEW UPPER 60S AND PARTS OF EASTERN SOUTHEASTERN IOWA. THERE ARE A FEW MORE CLOUDS THIS YEAR. THERE ARE SIMILAR NUMBERS TO WHAT WE’LL SEE TOMORROW AS WELL, AS WE’VE BEEN WARMING THROUGH THE PAST COUPLE OF WEEKS, WE’VE HAD A LITTLE BIT OF SOME RAIN. WE’VE REALLY PICKED UP THE MOREL MUSHROOM SITUATION HERE ACROSS THE STATE OF IOWA. WE’VE GOT SOME NICE PICTURES IN EARLIER THIS EVENING FROM WHITNEY BAIRD HAD HER KIDS OUT IN THE TIMBER. LOOKS LIKE FINDING SOME MUSHROOMS OUT THAT DIRECTION. WE GOT SOME MORELS WITH THE KIDS. THERE’S A BIG ONE THERE. THE LITTLE GUY HAS HIS DRINK AS WELL, SO THAT’S A GOOD WAY TO GET OUT AND LOOK AROUND. AND THEN WE’VE GOT THE FULL FIVE GALLON BUCKET HERE FULL OF THEM. WELL THE THAT DAY’S HARVEST AT LEAST THIS WEEKEND OBVIOUSLY THE PAST FEW WEEKS A LOT OF FOLKS HAVE BEEN OUT IN THE WOODLANDS AND TIMBERS FINDING THOSE. NO RAIN TO HELP GET A LITTLE BIT OF MOISTURE IN THE GROUND OUTSIDE. FOR THOSE TODAY WE WERE DRY, BUT VERY COMFORTABLE. THERE’S A FEW CLOUDS IN SOUTHEASTERN IOWA, BUT THAT’S ABOUT IT. THERE HAS BEEN RAIN OVER THE OHIO RIVER VALLEY FOR THE BASICALLY THE PAST FEW DAYS. BECAUSE OF THAT LOW PRESSURE CENTER THAT’S STILL BASICALLY STATIONARY. THAT’S GOING TO SLOWLY DRIFT AWAY FROM US OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS. AND BECAUSE IT’S SORT OF BLOCKING UP OUR WEATHER PATTERN, OUR WEATHER’S NOT GOING TO REALLY CHANGE. WE’RE GOING TO SEE MORE OF THIS ENJOYABLE SORT OF WEATHER. OCCASIONALLY WE SEE THESE LITTLE SPIRALING BANDS OF SOME CLOUDS TRY TO MOVE INTO EASTERN IOWA, BUT THAT’S ABOUT IT. MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES TOMORROW, LOW 70S ARE BACK IN THE PICTURE. WATCH AS WE GO INTO TUESDAY. MOSTLY SIMILAR SORT OF STUFF THAT LOW IS NOW SPIRALING OFF TO THE EAST OVER THE GREAT LAKES, SO WE START TO GET A LITTLE BIT WARMER, MID 70S TUESDAY AND THEN WATCH AS WE HEAD TOWARDS TUESDAY NIGHT. THE WEATHER PATTERN UNBLOCKS NOW THERE’S ANOTHER SYSTEM WAY OUT TO THE WEST OVER THE ROCKIES. BY THIS POINT IT PUSHES MORE CLOUDS IN TOWARDS WEDNESDAY MORNING AND THEN WE’LL MAYBE SEE A FEW. I WOULD SAY SPOTTY TO ISOLATED SHOWERS POSSIBLE AS WE HEAD THROUGH WEDNESDAY AND INTO WEDNESDAY NIGHT. AT THIS POINT, DEFINITELY NOT A WASHOUT AND PROBABLY NOT RAIN FOR MOST FOLKS AT ANY GIVEN TIME. IT’S A SLIM CHANCE WE’RE GOING TO PUT IN THE FORECAST HERE FOR NOW. BACKTRACK TO TOMORROW. LOOKS FANTASTIC. 60S. IF YOU SEE A FEW OF THOSE, YOU’RE MOST LIKELY GOING TO BE OVER IN EASTERN IOWA. LET’S SAY OTTUMWA, MONTEZUMA, OSKALOOSA, YOU KNOW, DOWN TOWARDS BLOOMFIELD 70 HERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STATE, WESTERN IOWA, MAYBE CARROLL ATLANTIC AUDUBON. YOU’RE GOING TO BE IN THE UPPER END OF THAT 70 DEGREE RANGE. NO 80S JUST YET. THOSE WILL PROBABLY WAIT TILL AS WE HEAD TOWARDS THE END OF THE WORKWEEK, A LOT OF 71ST, AND THEN AS WE HEAD TOWARDS THE WEEKEND, WE MIGHT START TO SNEAK INTO THAT SORT OF KIND OF WARM ISH TERRITORY FOR THIS TIME OF THE YEAR, 60 OR MORE NORMAL. WE’VE GOT SOME 80S POSSIBLE RIGHT NOW. WE’RE GOING TO FORECAST FOR MOTHER’S DAY. OBVIOUSLY, A LOT OF FOLKS MIGHT HAVE OUTDOOR PLANS. LOOKS GREAT. FOR NOW, WE’RE GETTING INTO KIND OF GRADUATION PARTY SEASON TOO. BY NEXT WEEKEND. ALSO, NO ISSUES. BASICALLY NOT MUC

Lots of sunshine and warm weather is on the way this week with only minor rain chances passing through mid-week.

Following a brisk morning, Sunday has shaped up to be fantastic across Iowa. The tranquil weather will continue into the start of the work week as well. Another afternoon of low 70s arrives Monday, and Tuesday will be similar — just a bit warmer.Interactive Radar | Weather Alerts The sunshine, light winds, and mild temperatures will remain because of a blocking pattern in the upper atmosphere. Low pressure remains stuck over the Ohio River Valley, and another system is positioned over the West Coast. Between the two, Iowa and the rest of the region sits under high pressure.
