The tranquil weather will continue into the start of the work week as well. Another afternoon of low 70s arrives Monday, and Tuesday will be similar — just a bit warmer.

The sunshine, light winds, and mild temperatures will remain because of a blocking pattern in the upper atmosphere.
Low pressure remains stuck over the Ohio River Valley, and another system is positioned over the West Coast. Between the two, Iowa and the rest of the region sits under high pressure.
By Wednesday, the eastern low will finally weaken enough to start moving east. This will unplug everything else and allow clouds to spread back into Iowa from the southwest. Some isolated showers and a thundershower look possible statewide Wednesday. Thursday, any rain looks to be restricted to southern Iowa. This moisture doesn't look to be widespread or that heavy.
By late this week, a broad area of high pressure will take over the Upper Midwest.
Temperatures will start climbing further, nearing 80° by Saturday. A few 80° days look possible early next week!
