Muscatine police investigating early morning assault
MUSCATINE, Iowa (KWQC) - Muscatine police are investigating after they say a man reported he was assaulted Sunday morning.
Police responded to a call about 5:45 a.m. reporting he was assaulted, one person having a gun, at a home in the 1000 block of Iowa Avenue, according to a media release.
Police said that when they arrived, the man told them the two people had gone back into the home.
According to the release, because a firearm was reportedly involved, officers took every precaution and secured the scene while the investigation continued.
Officers were on scene for several hours, police said. The residence was later cleared of possible threats.
The investigation is ongoing, police said. No arrest has been made at this time.
Police said it appears to be a targeted incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
