Middletown officer hospitalized after cruiser hit by stolen car during chase
A Middletown police officer was taken to the hospital after a stolen car crashed into a cruiser during a chase Sunday.
Middletown police said officers were chasing a stolen car before 1 p.m. Sunday when it crashed into a Middletown police cruiser at the intersection of Tytus Avenue and Eldora Drive.
Multiple videos sent to WLWT Sunday show the cruiser that sustained significant damage to its side. Several other police cruisers could also be seen surrounding the vehicle as officers worked to secure the scene. One video later depicted the cruiser being hauled away on a flatbed truck.
The driver is said by one witness WLWT interviewed to have crashed into the police cruiser at an extremely fast speed, before taking off and running away on foot.
The Middletown officer was taken to a nearby hospital and has since been released.
Middletown police said they're investigating several stolen cars from over the weekend.
