SOMERS, CT (WFSB) - State police said a K9 helped them track down a fugitive from New Jersey.

The suspect was at a business in Somers just before 5 p.m. on Monday, troopers said.

State police said he had been on the run since 2023.

They said he was also recently accused in a domestic violence incident that happened in Clinton over the weekend.

“Troopers located the suspect as he was leaving the business and attempted to take him into custody but the suspect refused to cooperate,” state police said. “K9 Viper was retrieved from his cruiser and the suspect was given multiple warnings to comply or the K9 would be deployed, but he still refused.”

The suspect was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries and was charged as a fugitive from justice and for interfering/resisting. He was held on a total $550,000 cash surety bond.

He faced a judge on Tuesday.
