Police seek two vehicles near scene of crash that hurt pedestrian in Bennington County

Police are looking for two vehicles who were in the area of a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a Bennington County woman.

The crash happened just after 6:30 a.m. on Thursday near the intersection of Route 7 and Vermont Route 346 in Pownal. First responders found the pedestrian on scene and provided care, Vermont State Police said. The victim is in an Albany hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Police have released photos of two vehicles near the scene. They are believed to be a Chevrolet Silverado and a Volkswagen sedan – either a Passat or a Jetta. They are white in color and have unknown license plates.

The vehicles were headed south on Route 7 and crossed into Massachusetts. They were last seen on North Hoosac Road heading toward the town of North Adams.

Vermont State Police is working with the Massachusetts State Police and other law-enforcement agencies on this investigation.

The victim remains hospitalized and continues to receive care for life-threatening injuries.
