Police and deputies recognized for efforts on the night of Deputy Tobin Bolter's shooting

The Boise Police Department honored several officers and Ada County Deputies for their service.

Mayor Lauren McLean, Chief Chris Dennison and the Boise Police Department Command Staff presented awards and congratulated the recipients in front of a crowd of family, friends, and co-workers. Some awards include the Medal of Valor, Silver Star and Leadership Commendation.

Several of the awards recognized Boise Police Officers and Ada County Deputies for their efforts on the night of April 20, 2024, when Ada County Sheriff Deputy Tobin Bolter was shot and killed.

A list of all awards includes:

  • Medal of Valor – Detective Joshua Sontag
  • Distinguished Unit Citation – Special Operations Unit
  • Distinguished Unit Citation – Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Unit
  • Exceptional Service Award – Officer Brandon Clyde
  • Chief's Commendation – Ada Metro SWAT
  • Leadership Commendation – Sergeant Joseph Andreoli and Sergeant Loren Hilliard
  • Meritorious Action Award – Corporal Brian Holland, Officer Chase Fiddler and Officer Justin Schultz
  • Chief's Commendation – Sergeant Joseph Andreoli and Sergeant Jordan McCarthy
  • Chief's Commendation – Mackenzie Strodtbeck & Liz Guzman
  • Chief's Commendation – Officer Connor Burch
