Woman charged in hit-and-run that killed one, injured another pedestrian, police say
A 21-year-old woman has been arrested and charged after a hit-and-run crash killed one pedestrian and injured another last month. Asheville police said it happened around 11:36 p.m. on April 8 at the intersection of Patton Avenue and Louisiana Avenue. When officers arrived, they said they found Tyler Michael White near the center median.He died at the scene. A second person was found in a nearby parking lot and taken to Mission Hospital. The preliminary investigation indicates a vehicle driving west on Patton Avenue swerved into the median, striking both pedestrians before driving away. Investigators said Kerrigan Abrielle Hensley, 21, is charged with death by vehicle and two counts of felony hit and run. Hensley turned herself in to the Buncombe County Detention Facility on May 8.
A second person was found in a nearby parking lot and taken to Mission Hospital.
