Maine mother's eight haunting words as she was beaten 'by SpaceX engineer son who'd just killed his wife'
A Maine mom whose son allegedly murdered his wife and then beat her with a fire poker begged him to stop amid the horrifying violence, according to court documents.
Former SpaceX employee Samuel Whittemore, 34, is accused of murdering his yoga-teacher wife Margaux Whittemore, 32, and attempting to kill his mom Dorothy Whittemore, 67.
The women were attacked by Whittemore at his mother's home on February 19, according to investigators.
Margaux fled outside and was killed, before the former SpaceX engineer allegedly ran back inside and began choking and beating his mom who had dialed 911, per court documents.
'Please stop it Sam. What are you doing?' she allegedly yelled at him, according to a dispatcher who was on the line at the time.
When police arrived, they found the numbers '911' smeared in blood on the wall, with Whittemore standing naked in the middle of the road.
The bloodbath unfolded just weeks after the newlywed couple had returned home from a trip around the world to settle in Belfast, Maine.
Dorothy told investigators the attack occurred after Margaux informed her Whittemore had been having trouble sleeping.

A 911 dispatcher said they overheard Dorothy begging her son to stop as he allegedly beat her during the bloodbath
Whittemore then followed his wife downstairs 'in a rage' and began brandishing a poker at her and his mom, according to court filings.
She escaped outside, while Dorothy ran to an upstairs bedroom to call the police, the documents state.
Margaux's naked body was later found in the driveway covered in stab wounds and had blunt force trauma injuries, according to investigators.
At some point Whittemore is believed to have returned inside and discovered his mom hiding before choking and beating her and pushing his knee onto her chest so that she couldn't breathe, per the court documents.
The chaos only came to an end when Whittemore's father returned from a trip away and confronted his son, who jumped out of a window, according to the filings.
Winthrop Police Department and Maine State Police said when they arrived Whittemore was muttering about 'murder' and the year 1776.
He later told the cops: 'I can't believe I killed my wife,' and 'I can't confront reality right now', the court documents allege.
Dorothy was found cowering under her bed and was taken for treatment at the hospital.

Margaux's gruesome murder stands in stark contrast to her glamorous life as a travel and lifestyle influencer.
Her picturesque wedding to Whittemore by a lake in Acadia National Park last September was documented on her Instagram.
The couple met in 2021, the same year he quit SpaceX where he worked as a senior avionics systems engineer.
He was at Elon Musk's rocket company from 2015, with a break from November 2018 to July 2020 where he also took off sailing the world.
