Police car involved in 4-vehicle crash in N.J. city

An Elizabeth police car responding to a call was involved in a four-vehicle crash Tuesday in the city, authorities said.

The patrol vehicle had its lights and sirens on when it was t-boned by another vehicle at the corner of Elizabeth Ave and 2nd Street, a city spokeswoman said.

Two other vehicles behind the car that struck the police car were then involved in a chain-reaction crash.

The officers went to an area hospital to be checked while another driver was treated for a wrist injury.

The crash remains under investigation and it wasn’t immediately clear what time the crash occurred.
