Man arrested in Ioannina on Interpol warrant

A 73-year-old Albanian national was arrested on Thursday night in Ioannina by police, following an active Interpol red notice issued by Albanian authorities.

The man was wanted in Albania in connection with charges related to the cultivation of narcotic plants. The international arrest warrant had been in effect since July 2022.

Following his arrest, the suspect was transferred to the competent prosecutor’s office, where extradition procedures are expected to follow.
