A busy road through Horwich was closed this afternoon after fire broke out in the basement of a takeaway.
The electrical fire, as it is being treated, started at 2pm today, with police shutting off the area to traffic and pedestrians.

The road was opened up just before the start of the 5pm rush hour.
No was seriously injured in the blaze and fire crews remained on scene until after 5pm.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At 1.50pm three fire engines from Bolton Central and Horwich fire stations were called to a fire above a former commercial unit on Chorley New Road, Bolton.

“Firefighters are using hose reel jets to extinguish the fire. Crews remain in attendance with the road closed by colleagues from Greater Manchester Police."
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 2pm today (8 May), we received reports of a fire at a property on Chorley New Road, Horwich.
"Officers are in attendance to support fire service colleagues and enquiries are ongoing."
The road was closed at Winter Hey Lane to the junction of Curteis Street.
