BURLINGTON, Iowa (KWQC) - The Burlington Police Department arrested a woman during a traffic stop and found meth inside the vehicle.
According to a media release from Burlington police, Michelle Adams, 35, of Centerville, Iowa, is charged with:
- possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, a Class B felony
- failure to affix a drug tax stamp over seven-grams, a class D felony
- probation violation for having a warrant out of Appanoose County
- providing false identification.
Adams was taken to the Des Moines County Jail.
On Wednesday, at about 12:55 a.m., Burlington officers said they conducted a traffic stop in the area of Agency/Curran Street, for a traffic violation.
Officers said they recognized the woman inside the vehicle and believed she had an active probation violation warrant out of Appanoose County.
Police identified the driver as Adams, but she initially provided false identification, police said.
During the traffic stop, a police K9 conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted police to the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle, police said. A search of the vehicle was done, and “suspected methamphetamine along with items used for sale of narcotics” were found.
