On Friday the Guam Police Department announced the arrest of Christ Tedtaotao Jr. on suspicion of impersonating a police officer.
According to GPD, Tedtaotao's arrest stems from a photo and message circulating on social media showing an SUV that was believed to be an undercover police vehicle, turning on blue lights "as if to pull over other vehicles but then would refrain from actually pulling them over."
The vehicle was found to not have any police markings and officers later determined the SUV was not part of any official fleet, GPD stated.
On Thursday afternoon the vehicle was located in Ordot and followed by officers who turned on emergency blue lights to engage with the operator of the SUV. However, the driver led the officers on a chase, speeding and running red lights and nearly hitting a pedestrian crossing Route 10 before continuing into Barrigada.
"As the SUV approached the tri-intersection, it slowed down and subsequently turned onto a gravel road shoulder area by the intersection of Route 16. Officers removed the driver, identified as Tedtaotao, from the SUV and secured him in handcuffs," GPD stated in the press release.
Officers later found a stolen firearm, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in the SUV.
Tedtaotao has since been arrested on suspicion of reckless driving, confiscated firearm, confiscated contraband, impersonating a public officer and recovered stolen firearm. He has been booked and confined at the Department of Corrections and the case has been forwarded to the Office of the Attorney General for their disposition.
