Walker, dog struck and killed by truck in McMinnville

McMinnville Ore. (KPTV) - A 46-year-old woman and her dog were hit and killed while crossing the street early Saturday evening, according to the McMinnville Police Department.

Shortly after 5:30 p.m. Saturday, first responders were called to the scene of the accident at the intersection of Southwest Old Sheridan Road and Southwest Cypress Lane.

Police say Audra Ackerman of McMinnville was walking her dog, crossing Cypress Lane, when she was struck and killed by a truck pulling a landscaping trailer.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Following an investigation, police say there is no indication that the driver was impaired or speeding, and categorized the incident as a tragic accident.

Police urge both drivers and pedestrians to take extra care when crossing streets, particularly in the evening when sun glare can make visibility more difficult.
