RIP: Gardaí launch investigation as fourth woman dies on Irish roads in less than 48 hours
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses after a woman aged in her 80s was tragically killed on Monday afternoon, 26 May after being hit by a bus in Dunleer, County Louth.
The collision between the bus and the pedestrian took place at approximately 12.20pm on Lower Main Street in Dunleer. The woman was then transferred by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where she was later pronounced dead.
Local diversions are in place while the road remains closed for a technical examination of the scene.
Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses to come forward, especially those with camera or dashcam footage.

Anyone who was on Lower Main Street in Dunleer between 12.10pm and 12.30pm on Monday and may have camera or dashcam footage have been asked to make the footage available to gardaí.

This is the fourth woman to have been killed on Irish roads in recent days. Theresa Morgan, also a pedestrian, was tragically killed after being struck by a car in Ashbourne, County Meath on Saturday.
Another pedestrian, aged in her 20s, was killed on Saturday in Enniscorthy, County Wexford following a collision.
A cyclist in her 70s also died following a collision with a tractor near Tulla, County Clare on Saturday.
