Person taken to hospital after vehicle hits pedestrian in east Belfast

One person has been taken to hospital after being struck by a vehicle in east Belfast.

Emergency services attended the incident in the Newtownards Road area after receiving a report on Monday afternoon.

An NI Ambulance Service (NIAS) spokesperson said one person had been taken to hospital.

"The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 17:27 following reports of a Road Traffic Incident involving a vehicle and pedestrian in the Newtownards Road area,” they said.

"NIAS despatched a Rapid Response Paramedic and an Emergency crew to the incident.

"Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was taken to Royal Victoria Hospital.”

The PSNI has also been approached for comment.
