Mexico is getting ready to make World Cup history
Mexico, a nation known for his love and devotion to soccer, is preparing to do something that no other country has ever done: host the FIFA World Cup for a third time. The first time the North American nation staged world football's showpiece event was in 1970.
With an inspired striker Pele in their ranks, champions Brazil dazzled the watching world in a tournament that featured legends such as German Franz Beckenbauer as well as a series of historic games, like the semi-final between Italy and West Germany.
Mexico was again the host in 1986, this time witnessing the exaltation of Argentina's legend Diego Armando Maradona. The soccer superstar was at the peak of his powers at that tournament, steering La Albiceleste to their second world title with victory over West Germany.
