BCR: Remittances from abroad to Peru up 5.5% in 1Q 2025

Remittances sent by Peruvian workers abroad totaled US$1.255 billion in the first quarter of 2025, a 5.5% increase compared to the same quarter of the previous year, the Central Reserve Bank (BCR) reported.

In the mentioned period, the United States remained the main source of remittances and the one with the highest increase due to the recovery of employment in the North American country.

The BCR noted that remittances in the first quarter of this year were equivalent to 1.7% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

It also stated that this level of remittances, in relation to GDP, was slightly lower than the amount recorded in the first quarter of 2024.
