Shreveport Police officers are investigating a "tragic and disturbing incident" involving a dead infant discovered wrapped in linens.
According to information from SPD, employees from Alsco Uniforms on Hollywood Avenue reported finding what they first thought was a doll but was the body of an infant. Detectives determined it was stillborn in Dallas on May 3 and was scheduled to be cremated.
After the funeral service on May 17 at Golden Gate Funeral Home and Crematory in Dallas, it was sent to Shreveport with dirty linens, investigators said.
Police were called to the uniform company at 5:30 Wednesday morning on a report of a dead person. The Texas Funeral Service Commission has been notified and is investigating the factors behind the transfer of the child to Louisiana. As of now, foul play is not suspected.
