The bullet-riddled body of a man suspected to be a Venezuelan was found in Mayaro on Wednesday morning.

Shortly before daybreak, the body was discovered by CEPEP workers in Grand Lagoon.

Around 5.30 a.m., officers of the Mayaro CID were on an exercise when they  were informed of the body in the bushes near the road.

Police said there was no identification on the man, who appeared to be in his 30s and was not known to residents in the area.

Officers said there were Spanish words tattooed on the man's chest, which was stained with blood.

There were several gunshot injuries on the chest and in both legs.

The body was clad in black boxers and black short pants, and described as approximately five feet, six inches tall, with black hair and a goatee.

The body was removed to the mortuary of the Sangre Grande Hospital pending identification and a post-mortem.
