
Saint-Louis: five (5) individuals arrested for attempted migrant smuggling by sea
The Saint-Louis Regional Branch of the National Division for the Fight against Migrant Smuggling and Related Practices (DNLT) has arrested five individuals for attempted migrant smuggling by sea, endangering the lives of others, and criminal conspiracy.
According to the National Police, these arrests follow a surveillance operation as part of the fight against illegal migration. To this end, a group of three (03) men, likely resembling potential candidates, was arrested and questioned.

They continued, unanimously stating that they had each paid the minimum sum of four hundred and fifty thousand (450,000) FCFA to two of the accused. In addition, they stated that they were on their way to their meeting place so that they could be taken by the recruiters to the place where the boat departed.
On this basis, a surveillance system was put in place and made it possible to arrest a total of twenty (20) individuals in the Hydrobase, Pikine 700 and Santhiaba districts, including the five (05) accused. The investigation is ongoing and the suspects have been brought before the Dakar Financial Prosecutor’s Office.

The DNLT, with the support of its regional branches, continues to carry out determined actions to dismantle migrant trafficking networks and ensure the safety of citizens.
