Torch run held in downtown Twin Falls for the Idaho Special Olympic Team
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Local law enforcement and Special Olympic Athletes took to the streets for the 2025 Statewide Law Enforcement Torch Run on Thursday.
Thursday afternoon, athletes, coaches and Twin Falls Police Officers started at the Twin Falls Police Department and ran through downtown Twin Falls, finishing at the Twin Falls Commons.
A torch bearer, carrying the Flame of Hope, led the way. The event is meant to help raise awareness and funding for the Special Olympic Team in Idaho. Sergeant Josh Hayes said it means a lot to the athletes.
“We had an excellent crowd this year, a lot of athletes, a lot of coaches from those teams. It’s so fun to see the happiness on their face, that they get to participate with us and get to be apart of this bigger picture, so much fun,” Sgt. Hayes said.
The Twin Falls Police also unveiled a new patrol car with the Law Enforcement Torch Run symbol to show support for the athletes.
The Idaho Special Olympics Summer Games will take place Friday June 6 and Saturday June 7 in Nampa.
