Kelce is coming off a career-worst season that saw him finish with just four receptions for 39 yards in the Chiefs' Super Bowl 59 blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

The 35-year-old contemplated retirement before revealing his decision to play for a 13th NFL season.

Kelce will be 36 in October, and there have been worries from fans that he could be benched in the upcoming season.

Reid could look to backup tight end Noah Gray, who last season posted 40 receptions for 437 yards and five touchdowns, which were all career-highs.

The Kelce bench fears could stem from analysts' beliefs that he will continue to not look like the First-Team All-Pro tight end he once was.

Pro Football Focus has rated Kelce as No. 7 in the outlet's annual tight ends ranking list.

In the past, they've ranked Kelce at or near the top of the list.

Last season, he was second behind San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle.

"While Kelce has been the second-most valuable tight end over the past two season, per PFF WAR, 2024 represented the lowest-graded season of his career (71.7)," PFF analyst John Kosko wrote.

"Age looks to be catching up to the future Hall of Famer," he added.

"... His 91.4 PFF overall grade from 2022 appears to be a thing of the past."

Kittle kept his top spot on the list, with Las Vegas Raiders' Brock Bowers and Arizona Cardinals' Trey McBride following him at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, respectively.

Kelce will undoubtedly be a first-ballot Hall of Famer as he won three Super Bowls and is one of the best tight ends of all time.

However, he posted a career-worst 823 yards last season.

Still, it's expected that Kelce will be given every chance to bounce back for what may be his final NFL campaign in 2025.

And Kelce said that he has something to prove to his teammates in 2025.

"I feel like I owe the guys that I come into that building with a whole lot more effort and focus.
