Man arrested after leading police on chase on toll road in LaPorte County
LAPORTE COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) - A Michigan man is facing charges after he reportedly led LaPorte County deputies on a chase on the Indiana Toll Road Thursday evening.
It all started when a deputy tried to pull over a Porsche near the 53-mile marker, but police say it didn’t stop.
According to police, the Porsche crashed into the back of a van while maneuvering around traffic before stopping in a ditch near the exit for State Road 39.
That’s when the driver, 31-year-old Shay Palmer of Muskegon, reportedly got out of the car and ran into some nearby woods.
Police say they eventually found Palmer and took him into custody. He was taken to the hospital before being taken to the LaPorte County Jail.
According to police, Palmer faces two counts of resisting law enforcement and one count each of auto theft and reckless driving.
