Pennsylvania's 2025 Trail of the Year winner was announced Friday in Cambria County.

The Path of the Flood Trail is this year's winner.

This is the second trail in Cambria County with this designation.

The Ghost Town Trail won the award back in 2020.

The Path of the Flood Trail is 14 miles long; it starts in South Fork and ends in Johnstown, tracing the route of the Johnstown Flood in 1889.

Secretary of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Cindy Adams Dunn, was at the trail Friday for the celebration.

She said, "And the trails advisory committee, I think, chose wisely because it's so unique. You know, it's a great trail, it goes to a lot of communities, gives a lot of people opportunity, but the deep and rich history and the way it's kind of a microcosm of Pennsylvania. It's a microcosm and tells a story of Pennsylvania in a unique way.”

Saturday marks the 136th anniversary of the Great Flood.

The names of the more than 2,000 victims will be read outside of the visitors’ center at the Johnstown Flood National Memorial, beginning at 7 p.m.
