Police sources have confirmed that, so far, no arrests have been made in connection with this incident and that an investigation has been opened to clarify the case.

This follows the death of another British tourist, who passed away during a paragliding incident in Tenerife.

The incident took place on Saturday, May 31, around 3.28pm at the natural pools of Puerto de la Cruz. Emergency services including firefighters, maritime rescue, and both local and national police were quick to respond, with a rescue helicopter also dispatched to the scene.

Maritime Rescue attempted to retrieve the paraglider using a jet ski, but the equipment ended up adrift. Local police officers were first on the scene, initiating resuscitation efforts until the arrival of the GES helicopter, as per the official incident report.

However, the unidentified man succumbed to his injuries. The Civil Guard is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the man's death.

The man's identity has not yet been revealed, but it is noted that he is of British origin.

Puerto de la Cruz boasts several natural pools and bathing spots, with Lago Martiánez being the most notable, holding 27,000 cubic meters of water. This tourist hotspot consists of seven artificial sea water pools and a large lake.
