Three arrested for huge fire tears at Dunelm store seen for miles

The fire broke out in the Dunelm store at the St James Retail Park in Northampton at around 3pm yesterday (Sat) and emergency services were called to the scene

A massive fire that engulfed a Dunelm and Pets At Home store, resulting in the evacuation of staff and animals, has led to three arrests.

The blaze broke out at St James Retail Park in Northampton inside Dunelm around 3pm on Saturday, prompting emergency services to rush to the scene.

Shocking images captured the intense flames which subsequently spread to the adjacent Pets at Home in what is believed to be an arson incident.

Eleven fire crews and vehicles were dispatched to combat the significant fire, with no injuries reported thus far.

While other premises suffered smoke damage, firefighters have since managed to get the fire under control, and all animals from Pets At Home were rescued unharmed.

currently being held in custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Andrew Tuff stated: "At the present time, we believe this fire to have been started deliberately and throughout the day, have made a number of fast-paced enquiries which has led to these three arrests."
