Police officers at Kafukule in Mzimba are accused of fatally shooting a man named Solomon Haraba.

His father, Iswell Haraba, claims the police raided Solomon’s home in Ching’anyi Village early Sunday morning.

Officers allegedly fired tear gas into the house to force him out.

When Solomon ran outside, he was reportedly shot in the leg, then the stomach.

Witnesses said police dragged his bleeding body to their vehicle.

Iswell Haraba later learned from police that his son had been taken to Mzuzu Central Hospital.

Solomon died there while receiving treatment for the gunshot wounds.

It is alleged the police were attempting to arrest him over a dispute involving stray cattle.

Efforts to get comments from Kafukule police have been unsuccessful.

Both the station’s publicist and officer-in-charge declined to speak on the incident.
