A former Cayce police officer is in jail for engaging in sexual acts with a woman in a public parking lot, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

CAYCE — A city police officer engaged in sexual acts with a woman in a public parking lot while on duty, according to an investigation by the State Law Enforcement Division.

Michael Timo, 35, is charged with misconduct in office.

According to the arrest warrant, Timo had an improper personal relationship with the woman from March 26 through April 14. On March 29, Timo allegedly had sex with the woman in the parking lot of the Cayce Tennis Court Complex while he was on duty.

Cayce spokesperson Ashley Hunter said Chief Bruce Wade was made aware of the allegations from an external complaint and immediately requested an investigation by SLED on April 28.

Timo was fired from the police department on June 6. He had worked there since October 2022.

The arrest warrant said the allegations were corroborated by witness statements and Timo’s own admissions to SLED.

Timo was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center. The case will be prosecuted by the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office.
