PARKERSBURG — A local firefighters group has recognized a long-time instructor for his work with students.
On Monday, the Wood County Firefighters Association held a meeting at Deerwalk Fire Station and recognized Jim Reynolds with a wooden Maltese Cross plaque for retiring with over 19 years of service.
Reynolds was the lead instructor for the Emergency and Fire Management class at the Wood County Caperton Center for Applied Technology. Reynolds retired previously from the Parkersburg Fire Department as its Training Officer.
Chief Steve Scholl of the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department said Reynolds is responsible for developing the next generation of firefighters and EMS personnel in the Mid-Ohio Valley, and many of his students still stay in touch with him post-graduation.
Scholl said many of the students that have been taught by Reynolds have joined various local volunteer fire departments, including some going onto career departments and into the emergency medical field.
