Two children suffered life-threatening injuries after being hit by a vehicle Thursday afternoon in Manchester, New Hampshire, and the driver is facing felony charges.
The children, whose ages were not shared, were hit on Belmont Street, Manchester police said. Officers initially responded around 4 p.m. to reports of gunfire near the intersection of Lake Avenue and Belmont Street, while later calls reported the pedestrian crash.

Moments later, police learned of a crash at the intersection of Belmont Street and Hanover Street. Fire officials in Manchester said that crash involved two vehicles.
Both crashes involved the same silver Volvo sedan, police said.

When officers arrived, they found a man walking away from the scene. He was taken into custody for a felony charge of driving while intoxicated, police said.
The driver's name has not been released.
The children were transported to Elliot Hospital with critical injuries associated with trauma, according to the Manchester Fire Department. Police said their injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
The driver also suffered minor injuries, police said.
Aerial footage from the scene showed a bicycle on the ground beside a car.
In the immediate aftermath of the crash, police urged the public to find other ways to get around, with road closures and delays in effect.
Belmont Street was closed at Hanover Street, as well as from Lake Avenue to Spruce Street, police said.
