Police: Woman claimed to have gun, threatened to shoot someone at Irmo credit union
IRMO, S.C. (WIS) - Police in Irmo said a woman is in custody after allegedly threatening to rob a local credit union.
The Irmo Police Department said 41-year-old Tiffany Wright was arrested following an incident at the SAFE Federal Credit Union location on Broad River Road.
Officers were reportedly called to the credit union shortly before 1 p.m. after reports of a bank robbery where the suspect had a gun and fled the scene. Witnesses told police Wright entered the bank agitated about an issue with her account.
She then later allegedly claimed to have a gun and threatened to shoot someone, but police noted that a weapon was never displayed. Still, authorities said her threats were taken seriously given the circumstances.
Irmo police said it worked with the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division to locate and arrest Wright at around 3:30 p.m.
Wright is charged with aggravated breach of peace and three counts of second-degree assault and battery. Irmo police said she will be booked at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
