LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - An anti-ICE protest outside the federal courthouse in Downtown Las Vegas Wednesday night led to nearly 100 arrests and four officers injured. As LVMPD ordered the crowd to disperse, police sprayed tear gas in what they call an “unlawful gathering”.

They report about 800 people were told to leave and those who didn’t were arrested and face various charges.

Another round of protests are expected in Las Vegas and across the nation this weekend. According to organizers, the focus won’t just be the crackdown on immigrants. It will be against all of President Donald Trump’s policies and what organizers call an overreach of power.

Ahead of Saturday’s “no kings” rally, officers staged outside the federal courthouse Thursday.

A large security presence could be seen throughout Downtown Las Vegas. On the walls around the courthouse and on nearby streets there is still anti-ICE and anti-Trump graffiti. On a utility box, someone wrote: “no Trump, no KKK, no fascist USA.”

While anti-ICE protestors clashed with law enforcement, organizers of Saturday’s planned rally tell FOX5 they are working with police to organize a peaceful demonstration. Saturday’s rally has been planned for months since President Trump announced what’s expected to be the biggest military parade in decades to celebrate the U.S. Army’s 250th birthday in Washington DC. Critics say it’s just another example of Trump’s authoritarian rule.

The Las Vegas event is one of more than 2,000 planned protests across the nation.
